horizontal_offset_tablet=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h1><strong>NAVIS is committed to climate protection<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Transport and logistics<\/strong> are the <strong>cornerstones of international trade<\/strong> and the global division of labor. Transport performance has been increasing steadily for years, as industry, retail and consumers today expect products and goods to be permanently available at any time and anywhere. This means that traffic remains a major emitter of greenhouse gases. Specific emissions reduction successes due to technical innovations and logistical process improvements have so far been compensated again and again by increasing transport demand and a rapidly growing increase in global private transport.<\/p>\n<p>As a provider of forwarding and logistics services, <strong>NAVIS<\/strong> organizes national and international transport. We are aware of the associated environmental impacts in the areas of energy, air, water, soil, waste and noise. We work continuously to <strong>prevent<\/strong> <strong>environmental pollution<\/strong> as far as possible, or at least to minimize it where this is not possible. <strong>We are committed<\/strong> to our responsibility for environmental and <strong>climate protection <\/strong>and we will continue our efforts to continuously optimize our processes &#8211; including with digital applications &#8211; for efficiency and <strong>environmental compatibility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Climate protection<\/strong> in transport is primarily dependent on <strong>innovations i<\/strong>n shipbuilding, the aviation and commercial vehicle industry and the energy sector, as well as on the <strong>requirements of politics<\/strong> and international institutions. For example, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/Pages\/Default.aspx\"><strong>International Maritime Organization<\/strong> <\/a>(IMO) has long been working on reducing the harmful effects of shipping on the environment. The <strong>MARPOL agreement \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/MediaCentre\/HotTopics\/Pages\/Sulphur-2020.aspx\">IMO 2020<\/a>\u201d<\/strong> to reduce ship emissions stipulated that from 1 January 2020, only fuels with a <strong>maximum sulfur content of 0.5%<\/strong> instead of the previous 3.5 may be used on board the ships.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>calculation of greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong> and <strong>energy consumption<\/strong> in transport and logistics are an aid to knowledge and the basis for reducing emissions. It is only then possible to derive reduction or avoidance strategies if the actual extent of self-generated emissions can be determined.<\/p>\n<p>NAVIS uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecotransit.org\/index.de.html\"><strong>EcoTransIT World<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0tool to calculate the <strong>carbon footprint<\/strong> of a single shipment. EcoTransIT World identifies the effects of \u00a0transport in terms of direct energy consumption and emissions when operating vehicles to transport goods. However, the calculations also include indirect energy consumption and indirect emissions (which arise during the generation, transport and distribution of energy) that are required for the operation of the vehicles. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iml.fraunhofer.de\/\"><strong>Fraunhofer-Institut f\u00fcr Materialfluss und Logistik IML<\/strong><\/a>, among other things, contributes its expertise in the emission assessment of logistics locations as a methodical partner.<\/p>\n<p>However, sustainable measures by political decision-makers around the world are crucial for <strong>global climate protection<\/strong>. NAVIS therefore welcomes the agreement of the German federal government on key points for the <strong>2030 climate protection program<\/strong>. So that Germany as a logistics location is not burdened unilaterally, the legal levers &#8211; CO2 tax, integration of traffic in an emissions trading system or other measures &#8211; at least European, if not created globally. The next ten years will determine whether a turnaround in traffic will succeed. Whether the <strong>zero emissions scenario can be achieved by 2050 <\/strong>(clean cargo) will therefore depend not only on the innovative capacity of the industry, but also on a successful energy transition.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Environmental Management<\/h2>\n<p>We want to avoid environmental pollution and reduce carbon emissions to a minimum in order to protect the natural resources and adhere to current environmental regulations. The EN ISO 14001 was used as a guideline for the development of our environmental management system. Den damit verbundenen Umweltauswirkungen in den Bereichen Energie, Luft, Wasser, Boden, Abfall und L\u00e4rm sind wir uns bewusst. So arbeitet im Seeverkehr die\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/Pages\/Default.aspx\"><strong>International Maritime Organization<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>(IMO) seit l\u00e4ngerem daran, sch\u00e4dliche Auswirkungen der Schifffahrt auf die Umwelt zu verringern. Mit dem<strong>\u00a0MARPOL-\u00dcbereinkommen\u00a0\u201e<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imo.org\/en\/MediaCentre\/HotTopics\/Pages\/Sulphur-2020.aspx\"><strong>IMO 2020\u201c\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>zur Verringerung der Schiffsemissionen wurde festgelegt, dass ab dem 1. Januar 2020, ausschlie\u00dflich Treibstoffe an Bord der Schiffe verwendet werden d\u00fcrfen, die einen\u00a0<strong>Schwefelgehalt von maximal 0,5 %<\/strong>\u00a0statt wie bisher von 3,5 % haben d\u00fcrfen.<\/p><p>Die\u00a0<strong>Berechnung von Treibhausgasemissionen<\/strong>\u00a0und des\u00a0<strong>Energieverbrauchs<\/strong>\u00a0im G\u00fcterverkehr und Logistik sind eine Erkenntnishilfe und Grundlage, um Emissionen zu senken. Erst wenn das tats\u00e4chliche Ausma\u00df der selbst verursachten Emissionen festgestellt werden kann, ist es daraus anschlie\u00dfend m\u00f6glich, Reduzierungs-, bzw. Vermeidungsstrategien abzuleiten.<\/p><p>F\u00fcr die\u00a0<strong>Berechnung der Klimabilanz<\/strong>\u00a0(Carbon Footprint) einer Einzelsendung nutzt die NAVIS das Tool\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecotransit.org\/\">EcoTransIT World<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>EcoTransIT World identifiziert die Auswirkungen des G\u00fcterverkehrs in Bezug auf den direkten Energieverbrauch und die Emissionen beim Betrieb von Fahrzeugen zum Transport von G\u00fctern. Die Berechnungen beziehen aber auch den indirekten Energieverbrauch sowie indirekte Emissionen mit ein (die bei Erzeugung, Transport und Verteilung der Energie anfallen), die f\u00fcr den Betrieb der Fahrzeuge ben\u00f6tigt werden.<\/p><p>Entscheidend f\u00fcr den\u00a0<strong>globalen Klimaschutz<\/strong>\u00a0sind jedoch vor allem nachhaltige Ma\u00dfnahmen der politischen Entscheidungstr\u00e4ger in der ganzen Welt. Die NAVIS begr\u00fc\u00dft daher die Verst\u00e4ndigung der deutschen Bundesregierung auf Eckpunkte f\u00fcr das\u00a0<strong>Klimaschutzprogramm 2030.\u00a0<\/strong>Damit der Logistikstandort Deutschland aber nicht einseitig belastet wird, m\u00fcssen die gesetzlichen Hebel \u2013 CO2-Steuer, Einbindung des Verkehrs in ein Emissionshandels-System oder andere Ma\u00dfnahmen \u2013 mindestens europ\u00e4isch, wenn nicht im Globalen angelegt werden. Die n\u00e4chsten zehn Jahre werden \u00fcber das Gelingen einer Verkehrswende entscheiden.
